Despite possessing an hourglass figure, a pretty face and some acting/dancing talents, Catherine Tresa, the actress who has starred in films such as Madras, Kathakali and Kanithan, finds herself out of favour with producers/directors mainly because of her attitude which plays spoilsport in her efforts to bag film offers.
Though she survives on dubbed voice like frontline heroines Kajal Aggarwal and Hansika and Trisha do (Nayan and Tamannaah have started dubbing in their own voices of late), she hasn’t made a conscious effort to speak in Tamil despite spending more than 2-3 years in Kollywood. She is now regretting the missed opportunity in a mega Telugu film which hit the screens worldwide yesterday.
Tollywood superstar Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No.150 (Telugu remake of Kaththi) hit the screens all over the world yesterday. Chiranjeevi, who dabbled in politics, is making a comeback as hero in Telugu films with the film produced by son Ram Charan Teja. Kajal Aggarwal, who has starred opposite Ram Charan in a few films, is paired up opposite his father Chiranjeevi in the film which has opened to good response.
It turns out that Catherine was initially chosen to dance for an ‘item number’ in the film but opted out of the film after she refused to don some costumes designed by Chiranjeevi’s daughter.
Raai Laxmi took her place and now that the film has hit the screens, the ‘item number’ has become hugely popular and Laxmi Rai has been getting appreciation from critics and fans for her dance number.
Catherine is said to be somewhat upset that the lost out on being part of a sure-fire hit film. Catherine’s loss is Raai Laxmi’s gain as the lanky actresses has been offered a few more films to dance in similar ‘item number’ songs!
