Actor-producer Vishal’s upcoming film Kaththi Sandai has opted out of Pongal race and would be releasing at least a week before Pongal, the festival of harvest.
Speaking to newsmen recently, Vishal said “We had wrapped up the shooting schedule of Kaththi Sandai some time back but the theatrical release of the film was held up in view of the demonetization drive, unfortunate demise of chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa and last week’s ‘Cyclone Vardha’ which hit Chennai and its suburbs.
“We were planning to release Kaththi Sandai on Pongal (14th January) but have decided to prepone its release by a week as the theatrical release of Suriya’s S3 has been postponed further. We would be releasing the film in many halls; it’s a ‘Robinhood’ kind of story and Vadivelu’s charater as ‘Dr. Boothri’ would rock theatres; in fact, I agreed to star in the film only after confirming that Vadivelu would star in it.
“Soori plays the other comedian in the film. Tamannaah, the ‘milky beauty’, plays my heroine. How can any director not afford to show a heroine as beautiful and as stunning-looking as Tamannah in a glam-filled avatar? She would look glamourous but won’t look obscene,” Vishal assured. Vadivelu assured that the film would be a fun-filled riot.
