Suriya has said that his upcoming film S3 is based on real-life incidents which took place during the eighties in the past in the history of neighbouring States Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Directed by Hari, S3 is the third film in Singam franchise involving Hari and Suriya. Anushka and Shruti Haasan are paired up opposite Suriya in the film.
While Anushka was present in all the three editions, Shruti replaces Hansika from Singam 2 which released more than two year back. The film, which was to release in theatres on 16th December, would now be releasing a week later on 23rd December.
“I started my career in 1997 with Nerukku Ner and never thought I’d be starring in action-packed films taking up characters such as ‘Duraisingam’. Not many heroes repeatedly work with same directors; it happened during the eighties when Rajini and Kamal starred in many films made by K. Balachander and Bharathiraaja. I have so far starred in five films made by Hari.
“We have completed S3 as per the planned schedule; the film’s script is set in the backdrop of the port city of Visakhapatnam. The story involves occurrences which took place in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh during the time when the late MGR and NTR were the chief-ministers of these States in the eighties. It’s an issue involving both the States and based on real-life incidents,” Suriya said.
