Sanchita Shetty, the stunner who started off in Tamil films by playing ‘milky beauty’ Tamannaah’s younger sister in the hit film Thillalangadi a few years back, hasn’t had any release in Tamil after Pizza II and Soodhu Kavvum before that. However, she is set for a grand comeback in Tamil films with not one but three films which are to release in succession in theatres.
She is not the solo heroine in Rum or Enkitta Modhadhe but she doesn’t feel bad about it as she asserts that she is absolutlely comfortable being part of multi-starrers which have become the order of the day of late in South Indian films as well. “Both the movies are releasing almost simultaneously and I’m busy promoting these two films together,” says Shetty with a ‘killer-smile’ of hers.
She plays a fan of superstar Rajinikanth in Enkitta Modhadhe which has cameraman-turned-hero Natty Subramaniam and Parvathi Nair in prominent roles. “My urban look in the film sans make-up went viral on the Net and everybody lauded my efforts as I’d look very much like ‘Maragatham’ (name of my character in the film) and not like the usual Sanchita Shetty,” she affirms.
“I’m thankful to director Ramu Chellappa for trusting me and casting me to play this character which has me donning nost-stud and the typical Tamil costume of paavadai-dhavani,” says Sanchita. Her Rum too has another heroine in Miya George which has Hrishikesh and Vivek in lead roles. “It would be a fun film where I play a city-bred girl,” she adds.
Sanchita also has Ennodu Vilaiyadu, another multi-starrer, on her hands which may release in January. “My role of an IT professional in this film is quite an exciting one and as I said earlier, I have no qualms being part of multi-starrers as the question of ego doesn’t arise at all,” asserts the actress.
