Even as producer-director Suseenthiran’s latest directorial venture Maaveran Kittu hit the screens across the State amid rains caused by the north-east monsoon, the bearded Suseenthiran expressed his confidence that the film would win the coveted national award when the next edition of those awards are announced next year.
Suseenthiran’s latest offering is based on a real-life incident which he feels would strike an emotional chord with the audiences. “It’s a commercially viable film of course but is based on a real-life incident. Necessary ingredients to make it a successful venture have been added. This particular incident, which forms the core of the film’s script, took place in my own native village several years back.
“I have taken up a social issue and am hopeful that my hard-work and sincerity would bag a national award,” says Suseenthiran about Maaveeran Kittu, his third film with Vishnu Vishal after Vennila Kabadikuzhu and Jeeva.
Sri Divya is paired up opposite Vishnu Vishal for the second time in Maaveeran Kittu after their earlier pairing in Jeeva earned appreciation from critics and fans alike.
For yet another time, Suseenthiran went on record stating that the film’s script was in no way related to the slain LTTE leader Kittu. “It’s not about LTTE or its work but it sends across a very relevant social message. I have always loved making such films,” says Suseenthiran whose next Tamil film would also be made bilingual in Kannada starring Sundeep Kishan, Vikranth and Mehreen.
