Director K. Subash, who was also a popular screenplay writer in Hindi films, passed away in Chennai yesterday. He was 57 years of age.
Subash directed 16 Tamil films and a solitary Hindi film which had Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn as the twin heroes. Some of his popular Tamil films as director include Vijayakanth’s Sathriyan, Prabhu’s Ayul Kaithi, Sathyaraj’s Bramma and Pangali, Ajith Kumar’s Pavithra and Nesam, Parthiepan’s Abhimanyu and Sabhash and Prabhu Deva’s Ninaivirukkum Varai, Eazhaiyin Sirippil and 123.
Son of Krishnan, who was part of a popular director duo of Krishnan-Panchu, Subash debuted as director in Tamil films with Prabhu-Amala starrer Kaliyugam and wen on to make many successful films.
He was also a successful scriptwriter in Hindi films and penned scripts in successful Bollywood ventures such as Chennai Express, Sunday, Dilwale and Housefull 3.
Subash, who had been admitted to SRM Hospital for a prolonged illness, breathed his last yesterday morning.
