R. Parthiepan, the actor-director who never hesitated to express his unique views on issues of concern, has said that it would be in the interest of the film industry in general and small and medium-budget film producers in particular if Ajith and Vijay’s films are not released on huge festival days such as Deepavali and Pongal.
Parthiepan is busy with his next venture Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga which is produced and directed by him. He also pens the story, screenplay and dialogues of the film which brings together his mentor K. Bhagyaraj’s son Shantanu and Parvathy Nair as on-screen pair for the first time. Parthiepan and Thambi Ramaiah play major roles in the film which has yesteryear’s heroine Simran in a guest appearance.
Speaking recently about the need to save the film industry by ensuring that films produced by small and medium-budget film producers do well in theatres, Parthiepan appealed to Ajith and Vijay to ensure that their new films are not released during major festival days.
“Even if Ajith and Vijay’s films are not released during festivals and released on ordinary days, their fans would turn them into ‘festivals’; doing so would ensure that films made by small and medium-budget film producers would get a huge opportunity to do well at the box-office as during festivals, people tend to go with their entire families to watch films in theatres,” Parthiepan opines.
