Prabhu Deva, who recently made a successful comeback in Tamil films as an actor with the Vijay-directed Devi, is all set to direct a film after five years.
Prabhu Deva’s last directorial venture in Tamil was the 2011 ‘Jayam’ Ravi-Hansika starrer Engeyum Kadhal which had amazing music and proved to be an average hit film. Though he has been getting many offers to play the hero, Prabhu Deva has been very choosy about his selection. His next Tamil film, however, won’t see him star in it but direct it.
After making many Hindi hit films in the intervening period, Prabhu Deva returns to his ‘roots’ as it was in Tamil films where he first started off as a group dancer, later became a choreographer and then graduated to play the hero in many Tamil films.
His new directorial venture has been titled as Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja and would star friends Vishal and Karthi (the general secretary and treasurer of Nadigar Sangam) in the lead. Isari Ganesh is the film’s producer. The two heroines and other artistes and technicians to work in the film haven’t yet been finalized.
