The first death anniversary of the Guinness record-breaking ‘Aachi’ Manoram, who left us on 10th October, 2015, was observed by her family, friends within and outside the film industry as well as by her millions of fans across the globe.
Born in 1937 in Mannargudi in Tamil Nadu, Manorama started her career by acting in stage-play very early in career. Later, she became a comedienne in films. Besides comedy, she also excelled in character-driver roles and earned millions of fans’ love and affection by the sheer strength of her performance. Nick-named by a respectful term ‘Aachi’, Manorama passed away last October.
Besides starring in more than 1,000 films, Manoram had also appeared on stage plays on more than 5,000 occasions. Whenever filmmakers thought of loving mother, affectionate mother-in-law and a majestic grand-mother, nobody but Manorama was invariably their first choice. Filmy-goers admit that no actress can ever step into the shoes of Manoram and fill up the void created by her demise.
Besides her acting skills, Manorama was also a talented playback singer. A voracious reader, Manorama used to get lost in her books during break in shoots. On her first anniversary, let’s pay her all the respects she duly deserves!
