Music director-turned-hero Vijay Antony has said that he feels absolutely comfortable working with newcomers as his heroines.
Vijay Antony, who has played the lead role in films such as Naan, Salim, India Pakistan and Pichaikkaran and tasted success in all the films, is presently gearing up for the release in theatres of his upcoming film Saithaan. In his four films, Vijay Antony got as heroines Manjari, Aksha Pardasany, Sushma Raj and Sadhna Titus. It may be recalled that the Telugu-dubbed version of Pichaikkaran ran for 100 days!
Queried as to why he wasn’t opting for frontline heroines and is preferring newcomers, Vijay Antony says that he feels ‘very comfortable’ with newcomers. “First of all, I don’t star in big-budget films which would be able to give frontline heroines the huge fee they might demand. Secondly, I have always wanted to give opportunities to new faces. Newcomers don’t trouble the producer with call-sheet dates.
“It is easier to complete the shoot of the films with them as they report promptly for the shooting schedule. Moreover, I believe mostly in the script and not in the glamour or image of heroines. I’ll think about acting alongside frontline heroines only when the producer doesn’t mind paying them and when such a necessity arises,” concludes Vijay Antony.
