Count on Dhanush, the national award-winning actor, to do plain-speaking at any time and on any occasion. The actor, who has recently turned director with his Power Pandi, has said that his upcoming film Kodi would be his first ‘political’ film. Trisha gets paired up opposite Dhanush (for the first time in her career) in this film.
The meet-the-press event in connection with the release in theatres of Kodi on Deepavali (towards the month end) was held at Prasad Labs in the city yesterday. Dhanush, his friend and producer of the film Vetrimaaran, director R.S. Durai Senthilkumar were among others to take part in the event.
“In the films which I have starred in so far, only Pudhupettai had some ‘politics’ woven into its script. However, my upcoming film Kodi would be my first ‘full-length’ political film. I’m thankful to music director Santhosh Narayanan for doing a wonderful job in Kodi. I have been watching him right from his Cuckoo days and he has been making a steady growth as a music director.
“I have completed my dubbing portions in the film which has me essaying double roles for the first time. When Senthilkumar narrated the script to me, I loved it a lot and decided that this would be the ‘perfect’ film for me to essay dual roles. Many of my friends for the past eight years have worked in the film which is a very important venture for all of us,” Dhanush concluded.
