Director Selvakannan, who is presently making Nedunalvaadai, has denied claims made by the film’s heroine Aditi who accused the director of trying to ‘misbehave’ with her. “It’s a totally false allegation,” confirms Selvakannan.
“I picked Aditi as I wanted to introduce her to Tamil films through Nedunalvaadai; after we wrapped up the first schedule of the film’s shoot, she got an offer to star in another film titled Pattathari. Deviating from the usual practice, I allowed her to take up the offer. Afterwards, when she reported for the shoot of Nedunalvaadai, she didn’t show the desired level of commitment and appeared disinterested.
“This resulted in arguments between us. She later apologized to me for her behavior and shot for a 15-day schedule. When we still had to shoot for 10 more days, she said that she wanted to go to Chennai. We suspended the shoot and returned to Chennai after which she remained out of touch with us. I spoke to Abhi Saravanan, who plays the hero in Pattathari, as to what was happening.
“He said Aditi won’t be shooting for Nedunalvaadai. We lodged complaints with the Producers’ Guild as well as with the Directors’ Association. After Aditi failed to turn up for talks, we lodged a formal complaint of cheating with the Valasaravakkam Police. Last week, Aditi was in Saligramam to shoot for a commercial and when I asked her why she didn’t turn up for the shoot, she quarrelled with me.
“Police advised us to sort out our difference by discussing the issue threadbare. This was what happened; this being the case, Adidi has been wrongly accusing me of attempting to threaten her and forcing her to get married to me. It is wrong on her part to say that I tried to misbehave with her,” concluded Selvakannan.
