Comedian Vadivelu, who is on a comeback trail after wisely deciding not to attempt any more lead roles in films, has been signed up to star in music director-turned-hero G.V. Prakash Kumar’s upcoming untitled film.
Vadivelu faced an ‘unofficial’ boycott from Kollywood after the 2011 Assembly polls in the State as the party for which he campaigned (DMK) bit the dust in the polls and also because the actor-politician whom Vadivelu took to task during electioneering (Vijayakanth) was in alliance with the AIADMK which formed the next Govt. in the State. This made Vadivelu become an ‘untouchable’ in the eyes of film-makers.
Santhanam and Soori benefitted from Vadivelu’s prolonged absence. Vadivelu, who is now on a comeback trail, has Raghava Lawrence-Ritika Singh’s Shivalinga besides Vishal-Tamannaah’s upcoming film Kaththi Sandai. He has now been signed up to play the comedian in a new film to be directed by Rambala, who made Santhanam’s Dhillukku Dhuddu a few months back.
G.V. Prakash Kumar is to play the lead role in the film and it remains to be seen how his combination with Vadivelu works out!
