Samuthirakani, who appears to be every director’s choice when it comes to testing or demanding roles, has been signed up to play the lead role in an upcoming film titled as Aan Devadhai (‘Male Angel’).
Director Thamira of Rettaichuzhi fame makes his much-awaited comeback in Tamil films with Aan Devadhai. How can an angel be a male, one might wonder; Thamira has his own explanation. “It’s a script which takes place in the backdrop of our own Chennai. Nowadays, globalization and urbanization have been driving people in cities and metros as they decide everything people do or think about.
“Aan Devadhai deals with the manner in which relationship between a husband and his wife go haywire in such a backdrop. It would make audiences realize how people disintegrate by taking frequent loans and in their quest to keep pace with economic progress,” concludes Thamira who says that the film would be a ‘dedication’ to his mentor, the late and legendary K. Balachander.
It may be recalled that Thamira directed Balachander and Bharathiraaja in his Rettaichuzhi, a feat not many directors can claim that they have done. In his latest venture Aan Devadhai, he has cast Samuthirakani, Ramya Pandian, Kavin, Kasturi, ‘Poo’ Ramu, Ilavarasu, Srinika, Pragadeesh, Aranthangi Nisha (of Vijay TV fame), Yaazh Nila, Mayilsamy, Arunmozhi and Dileepan.
Thamira also produces the film by launching his production house ‘Sigaram Cinemas’ in association with Fakrhrudeen. Vijay Milton is the film’s cinematographer while Ghibran scores the music.
