Music director-turned-hero Vijay Antony, who also produced a few of his films, is debuting as director and actor in Bollywood with the Hindi remake of his hit film Pichaikkaran.
Vijay Antony debuted as music director in Tamil films in 2005 with the non-starter Chukran and debuted as hero with the 2012 hit film Naan. He then went on to star in a series of hit films as he chose his script carefully film-after-film resulting in successive hits at the box-office. Even the titles of his films – which were far from convention – made news!
His Pichaikkaran, which released in theatres across the State in the first week of March this year, became a super-hit venture. It’s Telugu-dubbed version titled as Bichagadu courted huge success and even beat some direct Telugu films when it came to its collections in theatres!
Buoyed by the film’s success, Vijay Antony’s next few films in Yeman and Saithaan are being made bilingual in Tamil and Telugu. In the meantime, Vijay Antony has decided to remake his Pichaikkaran in Hindi.
He would be directing the film besides essaying the lead role, thus making his debut simultaneously as an actor and director in Bollywood. The film would be produced by a leading production house, it is reported.
