Though she tried her best to come out of the image of a typical rural belle (a role which she has played with aplomb in many films), actress Lakshmi Menon appears to have got into the mode yet again in her upcoming film Rekka.
Rekka incidentally pits her opposite Vijay Sethupathi for the first time. Lakshmi had a wonderful past 18 months or so during when she featured in three super-hit Tamil films in the form of ‘Jayam’ Ravi’s Miruthan, Karthi’s Komban and Ajith’s Vedalam. She hasn’t had any Tamil film releasing this year except Miruthan, though. She has a handful of films in Tamil.
Rathina Siva, who has been directing her in Rekka, gives a ‘small’ insight into the film’s script. “An youth gets deeply affected by a small mistake he committed when he was still a boy. He, however, gets a chance to rectify this mistake when he grows up. Whether or not he made full use of it forms the crux of the script.
“Vijay Sethupathi plays a typical Kumbakonam-based youth in what could be dubbed as his first action-packed venture. Lakshmi Menon plays a Madurai girl in the film,” informs Siva. Sathish, K.S. Ravikumar and Kishore play major roles in the film which has music by D. Imman and is cinematographed by Dinesh Krishnan. Yugabarathi has penned all the lyrics in the film.
