Vikram’s latest film Iru Mugan has opened very well and has collected an impressive Rs.13 crores in its first two days in theatres.
Released last Thursday (08th September), Iru Mugan has been directed by Anand Shankar, produced by Shibu Thameens (whose last year’s Puli flattered to deceive in theatres) and released/distributed by Araa Cinemas. Iru Mugan, incidentally, happens to be the first major releae of Araa Cinemas as far as Tamil films are concerned.
The opening day’s collections stood at Rs.5.5 crores, exceeding the expectation of Rs.3-4 crores. Not so surprisingly, the Telugu-dubbed version of the film has also been doing well in theatres across Andhra Pradesh and Telengana where it collected Rs.4.75 crores in its first two days. Kerala didn’t lag behind and collected Rs.1.25 crores as theatrical collections on the film’s opening day.
Released in U.S., Britain, Sri Lanka and in Gulf countries simultaneously, the film collected Rs.1.75 crores on its first day in these countries. The Tamil version released in 90 halls in U.S. alone. After I, Vikram appears to have asserted yet again that sincere performances alone can guarantee success at the box-office!
