Director Hari has announced that Trisha, who was paired up opposite Vikram in Saamy in 2003, would be the heroine in his upcoming Saamy sequel as well.
Released on 01st May, 2003, Saamy went on to rock at the box-office and is one of the most significant hit films in the careers of Vikram, Trisha as well as director Hari. The sleek screenplay (which had Vikram essaying a tough cop), songs and comedy contributed to the film’s huge success at the box-office.
13 years after the film’s release, Hari has now decided to make a sequel to it. Saamy had its antagonist killed by the hero and as such, Hari can’t continue the film where the sequel ended and would have to prepare a fresh script. Though it was announced earlier that Vikram would play the lead role again in the sequel, there was some doubts as to who would play his heroine in the sequel.
Hari has now confirmed that Trisha would be the heroine again; however, she won’t be the solo heroine and would be one of the two heroines and the second heroine hasn’t yet been finalized. This is keeping with the latest trend wherein Trisha hardly got a solo heroine’s role in recent years.
