Manikandan, the national award-winning director of the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Kakka Muttai, has said that he would soon be remaking a popular Hollywood film into Tamil.
Manikandan, whose Kakka Muttai won him national and international fame besides winning many awards at various Film Festivals, has had his second directorial venture in Kuttrame Dhandanai releasing in theatres last week. To Manikandan’s credit, his second film has also been lauded by critics even as it has opened to average business at the box office last Friday.
Queried about his remake plans, Manikandan affirmed it. “Yes, I have acquired the remake rights in Tamil of a popular Hollywood film. As of now, I can’t reveal any other detail. In all probability, I may start work on the film’s remake early next year after completing my upcoming film Kadaisi Vivasaayi.
“I’m now on the look-out for a suitable actor to play a 70-year old farmer in the film. As soon as I find him, the film’s shoot would commence,” says Manikandan.
