It is reported that national award-winning director Bala’s upcoming untitled film would have – hold your breath – Simbu in the lead!
Bala, known for his off-beat films such as Sethu, Pithamagan, Nandha, Naan Kadavul, Paradesi and Tharai Thappattai, is one of the frontline directors in Tamil film industry who treat their scripts as their heroes and choose the actors as per the scripts.
Despite being Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s landmark 1000th film as a music composer, Tharai Thappattai didn’t do that well at the box-office.
Bala later planned to make Kudra Paramparai but he had a clash with veteran film-maker Bharathiraaja who too wanted to make a film with the same title. Bala held back his own idea and it was rumoured that his next film would be a multi-starrer having Arya, Vishal, Rana Daggubati and Atharvaa. It appears that this multi-starrer film has also been shelved for the time being.
Talks with Simbu have been proceeding in a ‘fruitful’ manner and if everything goes well, Bala might make a formal announcement about his Simbu-starrer in a few days’ time from now.
It, however, remains to be seen how does Simbu cope up with the needs as Bala’s heroes are not usually permitted to retain their hairstyle, dressing mannerism or acting styles.
Meanwhile, Simbu is now awaiting the release in theatres of his Gautham Vasudev Menon-directed Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada even as he has been working round-the-clock for Adik Ravichandran’s Anbanavan Asarathavan Adangathavan.
