Pa. Ranjith, whose stature as a film-maker went up by leaps and bounds when his latest directorial venture Kabali starring superstar Rajinikanth in the lead released in July and turned out to be a colossal hit, has insisted that his upcoming second film with Rajini won’t be a sequel to Kabali.
For the second time in an year, Rajini has surprised his fans and industry folks by choosing to work with Ranjith who had only directed Attakathi and Madras before he got to direct the ‘man of the masses’ in Kabali.
Many film-makers in Kollywood, who had been waiting for years to direct Rajini in at least on film, are looking at Ranjith in awe (and in some jealousy, too!) as Ranjith is to make Rajini’s next film as well.
Dhanush would be producing the film under his banner ‘Wunderbar Films’ in what would be his first production venture starring his father-in-law Rajinikanth in the lead. Reacting to rumorus that the proposed untitled film would be a sequel to Kabali, Ranjith said “It won’t be a sequel to Kabali but would be a brand new script. It would be very unexpected; it’s a dynamic script whose details would be revealed later!”
