Multi-faceted Aishwarya, eldest daughter of superstar Rajinikanth and wife of the national award-winning actor Dhanush, has been appointed as Unites Nations’ Goodwill Ambassador for South Indian women.
Aishwarya, who fell in love with and married Dhanush more than a decade back, has been a playback singer, music director, film director and a social activist. She has also made a documentary on the rough and tough (ever risky, too!) lives of stunt choreographers of Tamil films and won laurels for her depiction of the reality in it.
At a function held in Chennal last evening, she was appointed as the ‘United Nations’ Goodwill Ambassador’ for South Indian women. Her responsibilities would include taking to the international stage the plight of South Indian women and speaking at the U.N. for their rights.
Aishwarya, flanked by husband Dhanush and mother Latha Rajinikanth, proudly received the formal order from U.N. appointing her as the ‘Goodwill Ambassador’. It may be noted that Aishwarya becomes the first-ever Indian woman to hold this prestigious post!
