Reports state categorically that Amala Paul hasn’t been sacked from Vetrimaaran’s upcoming Vada Chennai triology of films. The actress is in fact essaying the role of a fisherwoman in the film, it is said.
It was Samantha who was first signed up to play the lead role in the film opposite Dhanush in what would have been her second film with the national award-winning actor after Thanga Magan.
However, Samantha opted out of the film due to personal reasons; it was rumoured that she was planning to get married to Naga Chaitanya and won’t be able to give call-sheet for two long years to complete the triology of films.
Vijay Sethupathi and Daniel Balaji play the antagonists in the film. Vijay Sethupathi is apparently paying back to Dhanush who cast him as hero in his home production Naanum Rowdydhaan last year.
Andrea Jeremiah plays a significant role in the film which has music by Santhosh Narayanan. Incidentally enough, Dhanush and Amala Paul come together on screen after the 2014 super-hit film Velaiyilla Pattathari.
Amala is apparently observing from close quarters the way fisherwomen behave and conduct themselves. She is also training in the kind of body language her character would need in the film.
It would be her first film after her split from her former husband and director Vijay. She would be essaying the heroine in all the three films in the triology, the first of which would be releasing in theatres next year.
