Comedienne Madhumitha has said that she wanted to follow the footprints of the illustrious Manorama and Kovai Sarana, mixing comedy with note-worthy acting performances.
Madhumitha, who dazzled as Santhanam’s lead in the hit film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi some years back, did a small yet impressionable role in Gokul’s Idharkuthaane Aasaipattai Balakumara. She also gives equal prominence to small screen and plays a prominent role in a comic sequel being aired on a popular regional television channel.
Her Telugu-mixed diction in this soap has become a huge hit among her fans. She is also part of another comic reality show. “I’m happy that my performance on small screen is also given prominence by my fans.
Be it films or teleserials, I listen to my portion of the dialogues, tend to add a few ‘attractive words’ of my own to the script and then deliver them on screen after rehearsing it,” reveals Madhumitha.
She plays Karthi’s sister in Kaashmora and has a few Tamil and Telugu films on hand but insists that her aim is not to be known only as a comedienne.
“I can perform emotion-filled sequences too; unlike the times of ‘Aachi’ Manorama and Kovai Sarala, scope for comediennes is very little in today’s scripts. I request them to take note of this while penning scripts in future,” says Madhumitha, with her trademark smile.
