Actor Karthi has revealed that he was indeed shell-shocked to see veteran actor Sathyaraj’s looks in last year’s colossal hit film Baahubali.
Sathyaraj played a slave named Kattappa in the super-duper hit film directed by S.S. Rajamouli which had Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Nassar, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah and Anushka in lead roles. The film’s sequel is now being made and is to release in April next year. Karthi expressed his comments on the eve of release of the first-look posters of his upcoming film Kaashmora.
Karthi’s looks in the film was strikingly similar to that of Sathyaraj’s appearance in Baahubali, thus sparking rumours that his looks might have been inspired by the super-successful film. Gokul has directed Kaashmora which pits Nayantara and Sri Divya opposite a rampaging Karthi for the first time on-screen.
“My look as ‘Raj Nayak’ in the film was kept as a secret for three years as the film’s conception took a long time. Before I started to shoot for Kaashmora, I had wrapped up the shoot of Komban and Thozha. When Baahubali released at a time when we were gearing up to commence the shoot of Kaashmora, we were shocked to know about Sathyaraj’s looks in the film as it resembled Raj Nayak’s looks.
“We finalized Raj Nayak’s looks in the film after testing the looks with various sets of wigs. Raj Nayak has nothing to do with Kattappa of Baahubali. I’m only too happy that my looks in Kaashmora are compared with that of Sathyaraj’s looks in Baahubali as he is a close family friend as well,” concludes Karthi.
