The success of a Rajini-starrer does wonders to the careers of many artistes, lyricists, music directors, playback singers, directors, producers and other technicians who are part of the film. Same is the case with Kabali, the latest film starring superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, which had plenty of relative newcomers in it.
Ritywika, who played a prominent role in director Pa Ranjith’s Madras (2014), played one of Rajini’s two daughters in Kabali and won laurels for the portrayal of her on-screen character from Rajini, the critics as well as movie-goers. Ranjith, who directed Kabali, had the confidence in Ritywika to repeat her in Kabali after his Madras. She has been lots of offers to star in many films post the release of Kabali.
The typical ‘Chennai girl’ that she is, Ritywika is over the moon now as wherever she goes, she is invariably asked to talk about her ‘Kabali’ experiences and the amazing feeling of shooting with superstar Rajinikanth. She is said to have played a small yet significant role in Vikram’s upcoming film Iru Mugan which has him romancing Nayantara and Nithya Menen for the first time in his career.
Directed by Anand Shankar (of Arima Nambi fame), Iru Mugan has generated quite a lot of interest amid Vikram’s fans as well as movie-goers with its first-look posters and trailer which showed Vikram in a daring role of a transgender. Nayantara has obviously been given prominence in the film’s promotional events (though she skipped them) which upset Nithya who too chose to skip all those events.
Industry insiders say that Ritywika’s role in the film, which has been kept as a secret, would do a world of good to her career.
