Deepika Padukone, Bollywood’s Hollywood-bound actress, has become the highest paid actress in the country by taking Rs.12 crores as her fee for her upcoming Hindi film to be directed by renowned director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Bangalore-born Deepika, daughter of former world badminton champion Prakash Padukone and who paired up opposite superstar Rajinikanth in the country’s first 3-D animation venture Kochadaiiyaan in 2014, has been paid a whopping sum of Rs.12 crores to play the lead role in Bhansali’s upcoming film titled as Padmavathi.
The slim-built, 30-year old Deepika, who shocked her fans some time back by revealing that she underwent bouts of depression, has thus beaten Kangna Ranaut, the national award-winning actress, by Rs.1.62 crores. Kangna was paid Rs.11 crores for one of her films last year though she never confirmed her fee.
It may be recalled that Deepika got Re.1 crore in Bhansali’s Ram Leela (2013) and Rs.7 crore for the directors Bajirao Mastani last year. Deepika has also beaten her famed contemporaries such as Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra.
