National award-winning actor and the multi-faceted Dhanush has just made his debut as playback singer in Telugu, thus expanding his horizons.
Dhanush, who produces films, writes lyrics and has sung many songs in Tamil, is foraying into another language as a playback singer for the first time now. He had already forayed into another language by playing the hero in two Hindi films viz., Raanjhanaa and Shamitabh.
Busy in Tamil films now, Dhanush awaits the release of his two upcoming films which are likely to release within a few weeks’ time. Shoot of Thodari by Prabhu Solomon and Kodi by R.S. Durai Senthilkumar have already been wrapped up and would be released in the coming weeks. Dhanush is also starring in Gautham Menon’s Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta and in the first part of Vetrimaran’s Vada Chennai triology.
On a request from S. Thaman, who is scoring the music of an upcoming film titled as Thikka which stars Sai Dharam Tej, Larissa Bonesi and Mannara Chopra in the lead, Dhanush recorded a song for Tej which start with the lines ‘Thikka Baby…’. Thaman thought it would be better if Dhanush, whose Why This Kolaveri Di song courted global popularity in no time, sung the song and Dhanush immediately obliged his request.
The recording session was over in just 25 minutes and Thaman later got up on his Twitter account to laud Dhanush saying “Dhanush completed the recording of the song in Thikka like a professional playback singer; kudos and thanks to him!”
The audio-launch of the film is likely to be held next Saturday (30th July).
