Kamalinee Mukherjee, the pretty Bengali babe who debuted in Tamil films a few years back, is now getting paired up opposite comedian Vivek in an upcoming film titled as Thuppariyum Sankar.
Unlike her North Indian contemporaries whose forte is glamour, Kamalinee has always opted to portray her roles sans glamour and in a performance-oriented manner. After debuting in Tamil films as heroine opposite Kamal Haasan in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Vettaiyadu Vilaiyaadu some years back, she starred in a few films and then disappeared from the scene.
She made a comeback with Karthik Subbaraj’s Iraivi by pairing up opposite S.J. Suryah but the fim’s no-show at the box-office has put paid to her hopes of landing up films opposite leading heroes. She has, however, been offered a role opposite Vivek in Thuppariyum Sankar which is a serious film. Palakattu Madhavan, Vivek’s last film in the lead, didn’t do well and the comedian is out to make amends with his new venture.
The film’s script has been set to be taking place in the sixties and would be directed by a debutant director. The film’s shoot is to commence in Chennai tomorrow. Details of technicians and other cast members to work in the film is to be revealed soon.
