The crew of Vijay’s upcoming film has asserted that the film is not the remake of the late and legendary MGR’s Enga Veettu Pillai, which releaed in the mix-sixties.
Bharathan, who last directed Vijay in the non-starter Azhagiya Tamizh Magan many years back, returns to direct him in an upcoming untitled film which would be the 60th film of the actor. Keerthy Suresh and debutant Aparna Vinod have been signed up as the heroines in the film which also has Jagapati Babu, Harish Uthaman and Daniel Balaji as the trio of antagonists.
Billed as a typical Vijay-starrer with even doses of action, comedy and sentiment-based sequences, the film’s shoot is presently going on in Chennai and Hyderabad.
MGR’s fans couldn’t digest the fact that Vijay could star in the remake of their ‘ever-green’ Thalaivar’s film. The crew of the film has now assured that the film is not the remake of Enga Veettu Pollai but has stopped short of hinting what the script of the film would be.
Critics feel that usually, Vijay’s films (Thalaivaa and Theri for examples) are not ‘official’ remakes of any films but ‘take’ major sequences from hit films albeit unofficially!
