Popular Marathi film Sairat, which is made at a shoestring budget of Rs. 3.5 crores, has already grossed over INR 90 crores at the box office. Now, the movie is all set to be remade in four southern languages.
The remake rights have been acquired by Rockline Venkatesh who will co-produce the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada versions with Zee Studios.
“Sairat has achieved a feat that is going to be remembered forever in the history of Indian cinema. The neo-realistic love story, based on caste system, has proved to be extremely popular and successful. We are excited to partner with Rockline Entertainment to remake Sairat and are sure that this synergies of strength will achieve greater success,” says Nittin Keni, CEO, Zee Studios in an official statement.
The director and the lead cast will be finalized over the next few months.
