Shantharam, who has starred with superstar Rajinikanth quite early in the latter’s career, passed away in Chennai on Sunday (29th May).
68-year old Shantharam played one of the angatonists in Rajini’s hit films such as Thappu Thalangal and Murattu Kaalai and went on to star in films such as Uthiripookkal and Pootatha Poottukkal.
Shantharam’s menacing appearance as the hit-man of antagonist in Murattu Kaalai who would kill everyone at his master’s hit is still fresh in movie-goers’ minds.
Shantharam has also starred in 40-odd Kannada films besides directing a few of them, including films starring top stars like Ambareesh in the lead. He hadn’t been keeping good health for the past few weeks and was hospitalized in a Bangalore Hospital where he breathed his last on Sunday afternoon.
