Samantha, basking in the glory of back-to-back super-hit films in Tamil in the form of Theri (opposite Vijay) and 24 (opposite Suriya), has said that she never viewed her competitors in awe.
Billed for long as an actress with immense potential but with little luck, things changed for Samantha with the super-duper hit film Naan Ee by S.S. Rajamouli. It put her firmly on the road to stardom and despite her Needhanae En Ponvasantham directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon not doing so well in theatres, she continued to get offers in both Tamil and Telugu.
Success stories such as Kaththi and Their changed her fortune which has taken top gear with the now-declared super-success of Suriya’s 24. “The success of my secret is nothing but hard-work; I’m happy, obviously, by the successive successes that I have managed to achieve.
“The media often refers to a few actresses as my competitors; however, I don’t think they were the same as last year. The competitors keep changing often; only a tough competition makes things interesting in any field. I don’t think of any particular heroine or actress as my competitor,” says Samantha.
