Not often you come across a heroine who praises the role of the lead comedian in her film not for his comic acts but for the performance in a character-driven role. Sri Divya, who plays Vishal’s heroine for the first time in the upcoming film Marudhu which hits the screens next Friday (20th May), has said that she was indeed happy at Soori’s performance in the film.
Directed by Muthaiah of Kutti Puli and Komban fame has directed Marudhu which is produced by J. Venkatesh. D. Imman has scored the film’s music which while Velraj, the director-cinematographer, has worked as the film’s cameraman. K.L. Praveen has edited the film which is all set to release in theatres next week.
Speaking at the meet-the-press event held in connection with the film’s release at Prasad Labs in Chennai yesterday, Sri Divya said “While shooting for the film, I could guess that we had a winner on her hands.
The script is very good and the unexpected feature, according to me, is Soori’s emotion-filled acting in a character-driven role. I was really surprised as I didn’t expect him to perform that well. Each of us have done our roles well and I’m sure it would be a hit film!”
Muthaiah reflected Sri Divya’s views. “It’s a script which would appeal to all sections of the audiences and Vishal’s physique fitted his character in the film appropriately. Sri Divya and Imman are great pluses of the film. Songs have come out very well. Soori has revealed another side of him as a character actor in this film,” he concluded.
