It has been reported in some sections of the media that ‘Tamil girl’ Sai Pallavi, the latest sensation in Mollywood (after starring in last year’s super-duper hit film Premam) who also has a huge fan base among youths in Tamil Nadu, opted out of ace director Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film Kuruthi Pookkal as she didn’t want to feature in some ‘intimate sequences’ with Karthi.
Reacting to reports of her ‘walking out’ of the film, Sai Pallavi said on her Twitter account that she ‘understoodd’ the discretion a director of the caliber of Mani Ratnam could have in choosing his artistes.
“When he narrated the script with some changes, I could sense I couldn’t feature in the film and am happy that Aditya Rao Hyadri would be making her debut in Tamil films with Mani Sir’s film,” she had said.
However, it is now said that Mani Ratnam, whose last year’s hit film O Kadhal Kanmani too had some intimate sequences between Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen, wanted to have similar kind of intimacy between Karthi and Sai Pallavi in his new film which reportedly didn’t go down well with the latter as she has cultivated the image of being a ‘homely’ heroine.
Being at her diplomatic best, Pallavi even said that like many others, she was also a fan of Mani Ratnam and was looking forward to watching his new film.
