In the cut-throat film industry, good deeds are only occasionally reported. One such deed has been performed by director-actor K.S. Ravikumar who promptly returned half of his fee to the producer of the film Remo stating that he had been paid ‘more’.
Ravikumar has the habit of essaying cameos in all films directed by him; he has also performed villain/character roles in many films including his recent appearance as Dhanush’s father in Thanga Magan. He plays a significant role in an upcoming film Remo starring Sivakarthikeyan and Keerthy Suresh in the lead and produced by Raja, a close friend of Sivakarthikeyan.
As an actor, Ravikumar takes his fee on daily basis. When he recently completed the day’s shoot, he was paid his fee in a closed envelope which he reportedly opened only after reaching home. He immediately called the production executive over phone and asked him why he had been paid ‘so much’ for having shot only for a couple of hours.
The production executive replied that Ravikumar had completed in two hours the task which was meant for the whole day and that was why he was paid the full amount for the day. However, Ravikumar said that he was aware of a producer’s difficulties as a director and told him that he was returning half-the fee for the day and did so through his aide.
Raja was floored by Ravikumar’s gesture and said “It is very difficult to find such a gem of a personality in film industry. His humility and good manners have already taken him to great heights; in fact, we are happy that he is part of this project!”
