The first week of May would see three big films, two of them starring Suriya and Simbu in the lead, clashing at the box-office for hounours.
Simbu’s much-delayed Idhu Namma Aalu, Suriya’s long-awaited 24 and Bobby Simha-Nikki Galrani’s Ko 2 are the three big films lined up to release in theatres on 06th May. Thus, it sets up a clash between Simbu, Suriya and Bobby, though they might have least visualized such a scenario when these films were launched in the past.
‘Sci-fi’ thriller 24 marks the return to Kollywood by director Vikram Kumar who made the Madhava-Neetu Chandra starrer Yaavarum Nalam many years back. Suriya’s different avatars of a scientist and a pilot have already generated huge excitement among his fans.
A.R. Rahman’s music, Vikram Kumar’s direction and Suriya’s looks and his speech at the recent audio-launch of the film have only upped excitement about 24.
In the making for the past three years and bringing together ex-flames Simbu and Nayantara back as on-screen pair after a decade, Idhu Namma Aalu is directed by Pandiraj and produced by T. Rajender.
Simbu’s younger sibling Kuralarasan makes his debut as music director with this film. Awarded an ‘U’ certificate recently by Censors, it has Andrea Jeremiah in a prominent ‘guest appearance’.
Sequel to Ko which had the Jiiva-K.V. Anand combination, Ko 2 has neither of them as it has been directed by Sarath Mandava and has Bobby Simha in the lead opposite Nikki Galrani. Prakash Raj, who plays a major role, might just turn out to be the savior for the film’s performance at the box-office!
