Karthi-Nagarjuna-Tamannaah starrer Thozha, which released in theatres 3 weeks back simultaneously with its Telugu version Oopiri, has collected a whopping sum of Rs.85 crores so far.
Trade circles say that it won’t be long before the film enters the Rs.100-crore club in respect of box-office collections. If it does so, it would be the first film in Karthi’s almost decade-long film career to touch the coveted Rs.100-crore mark as collections.
Pitting Tamannaah opposite for the third time after Paiyaah and Siruthai and bringing Nagarjuna back to Kollywood after many years, Thozha’s success has made Karthi and Tamannaah as one of the most successful and sought-after on-screen pairs in Tamil films. At the end of three weeks yesterday it has collected Rs.85 crores the world over and would soon enter the Rs.100-crore club.
Thozha faces a minor challenge from Vijay’s Theri which releases in theatres today; however, it is expected to carry on for at least a couple of weeks and touch the Rs.100-crore mark sooner than later!
