Suriya, known to speak out his mind at all times, issued a clear message to his fans and movie-goers yesterday at the audio-launch of his upcoming thriller 24. Speaking at the event in Chennai, Suriya asked fans not to patronize ‘bad films’ (his and others’) at any cost.
Actress Nithya Menen Samantha, playback singers Sakthisree Gopalan, Benny Dayal, Chinmayee, A.R Rahman, Karthi, Sivakumar and Hari were among the participants at the launch held at the Sathyam Cinemas in the city.
“I’m happy to be holding this event amid you (fans); in fact, I feel guilty at times that I’m not able to meet you as frequently as I would love to. My film commitments don’t permit me such luxuries.
“Be it my film or others’ films – please support and patronize films only if they are good films; please don’t make bad films succeed at the box-office.
Only this would let us realize our faults and reform ourselves. Each of us are presented by the Almighty with opportunities and it is up to us to stay alert in order to make best use of those opportunities. Be patient and wait for your chances.
“I was pained by recent suicides by Class XII students who ended their lives as the question papers were ‘tough’; this is very agonizing and silly. Education is just to help us lead our lives in a better manner.
Each of our lives has its own meaning and don’t be in a hurry. I have progressed this far in life thanks to my father’s advice. I appeal to my fans to listen to their parents and reform themselves,” Suriya concluded.
