Third poster of superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kabali was released by its makers yesterday. The poster, depicting Rajini getting up from his seat in rage in the backdrop of sea of people and some weapons, went viral on the net within a few minutes of getting released.
Pa. Ranjith of Attakathi fame is directing Rajini in Kabali which has Radhika Apte, Dhansika, Dinesh, Kalaiyarasan and Kishore essaying lead roles. Santhosh Narayanan is scoring the music of a Rajini-starrer for the first time in his career. The film has been produced at a huge cost by ‘Kalaipuli’ S. Thanu, for whom this is the first film as the producer of a Rajini-starrer.
After the shoot was held in Chennai, Malaysia and Thailand and wrapped up, the post-production work is now in progress. It is rumoured strongly that the business of the film has bettered all the figures of Rajini’s previous films.
The U.S. release and distribution rights of the film alone has been sold at a record price of Rs.8.5 crores. The release rights of the film in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are about to be sold for Rs.45 crores, with Kerala lagging behind at Rs.7 crores.
Till now, only a couple of posters in connection with the film and a few stills have been released to the media. No other news, including what could be the film’s script, have been leaked to the press. Thanu has just released the third poster of the film which immediately went viral on the net, with netizens sharing/downloading the poster.
In fact, within a few seconds, the hash-tag of the poster took the third place among things shared/downloaded in the country. Sources close to Thanu say that the producer wants to release the film in June after the election process in Tamil Nadu is over by the third week of May.
