Vijay Sethupahi has asked his over-enthusiastic fans not to prefix his name with the title of ‘Chinna Thala’.
Vijay Sethupathi is in a roll in Tamil films as he is about to complete a hat-trick of hit films. He delivered a super-hit film in Naanum Rowdydhaan last year with his most favourite heroine Nayantara.
A few weeks back, he started the year 2016 with a hit film Sethupathi in which his cop act came in for high praise from critics and fans. His Kadhalaum Kadandhu Pogum, which released last Friday, has been going great guns.
Trade circles say that there is every possibility that the Nalan Kumarasamy-directed Kadhalaum Kadandhu Pogum might go on to become a super-hit film, if the initial response from audiences and fans of Vijay Sethupathi is any indication.
This would complete a hat-trick of hits for Vijay Sethupathi, who was titled as ‘Chinna Thala’ by his fans who used the title in the posters/banners when Sethupathi was released.
Seenu Ramasamy, who introduced him as hero in Kollywood with the 2010 film Tenmerku Paruvakaatru and directed his upcoming films Idam Porul Yaeval and Dharma Durai, gave him the title of ‘Makkal Selvan’ recently. Realizing that he has a long way to go before he is compared with ‘Thala’ Ajith, Vijay Sethupathi has requested his fans not to prefix his name with the title of ‘Chinna Thala’.
Speaking to reporters at the sidelines of a recent event, Vijay Sethupathi said that “Ajith Sir is always the ‘Thala’ and I don’t want my fans to prefix my name as ‘Chinna Thala’ in posters and banners; nobody comes close to Ajith and comparing me with Ajith certainly won’t have my approval!”
