Music director-turned-hero Vijay Antony has scored his fourth successive hit with the success at the box-office of his latest film Pichaikkaran.
Released last Friday along with Jiiva-Hansika’s Pokkiri Raja and Srikanth-Raai Laxmi’s Sowcarpettai, Vijay Antony’s Pichaikkaran has been directed by Sasi of Poo fame and produced by his wife Fathima. Despite releasing his film against the films of established stars and with a supposedly ‘negative’ title, Vijay Antony has met with admirable success.
The script, which shows the protagonist (Vijay Antony) taking to begging for a fixed number of days for the love and affection he has for his mother, has touched the audiences’ emotional chord and collected Rs.4.25 crores all over the State in its first three days. It has also been exempted from entertainment tax by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu.
Pokkiri Raja has collected only Rs.3 crores in its first three days. With the success of Pichaikkaran, Vijay Antony has delivered his fourth hit film as a hero; his earlier hit films were Naan, Salim and India Pakistan.
