At a time when fee charged by heroes per film keeps increasing with each of their films, heroines seem to be rather slow in keeping pace with their male counterparts in the industry. In this backdrop, a report says that Nayantara has demanded that she be paid Rs.4 crores to star in her upcoming films.
Superstar Rajinikanth has always been the highest-paid star in Kollywood for the past many decades. After Kamal and Rajini, the likes of Ajith, Vijay and Suriya are reportedly getting more than Rs.15 crores. Heroines, on the other hand, had touched the Rs.2 crore barrier only recently.
It is reported that Nayan happens to be the firt heroine in Tamil films who has ‘fixed’ her fee per film as Rs.4 crores. As she is on top of her trade in Tamil films and also in Telugu films, producers and directors may not hesitate in paying up the fee. She delivered three back-to-back super-duper hit films in Tamil last year with Maya, Thani Oruvan and Naanum Rowdydhaan.
She now awaits the release in theatres of Idhu Namma Aalu, Kaaashmora, Iru Mugan and Vignesh Shivan’s next film opposite Vijay Sethupathi. Besides, she also has her hands full with her Telugu and Malayalam film assignments. Though she doesn’t get paid much in Malayalam, she reportedly told a Telugu producer who recently wanted to sign her up to pay Rs.4 crores to her.
The crew backed away at the amount and later signed up Anjali in place of Nayantara who is likely to fix this as her fee in Tamil films as well!
