Atharva’s latest film Kanithan, which hit the screens last Friday, is said to be on top at the box-office and has outscored ‘Jayam’ Ravi’s Miruthan which released a week before it.
Kanithan, starring Atharva and Catherine Tresa for the first time opposite each other, has reportedly collected Rs.3 crores it its first five days.
Miruthan has collected Rs.2.30 crores while Vijay Sethupathi’s Sethupathi collected Rs.1.61 crores during the corresponding period. Arulnithi’s Aarathu Sinam is doing average business and might pick up next when word spreads about the film.
In Chennai alone, Kanithan collected Rs.51.09 lakhs in the first five days and has been ranked on top. Produced by ‘Kalaipuli’ S. Thanu, the film was released in 175 halls across the State, collecting Rs.3 crores from all these halls.
The success of the film, which has no huge stars except Atharva, has further strengthened Atharva’s market which is already going steady as his last film Eetti was also a super-hit.
‘Jayam’ Ravi’s Miruthan is going steady followed by Vijay Sethupathi’s Sethupathi which has collected more than Rs.2.30 crores. Arulnithi’s Aarathu Sinam may improve its performance once positive reviews by the press reach the people.
