Film-maker Venkat Prabhu has just released on the Internet the first-look posters of his upcoming film, which would be the sequel to his debut directorial venture Chennai 600028 which released in 2007.
Eldest son of lyricist-playback singer-music director-producer-director Gangai Amaren, Venkat Prabhu acted in a few films before debuting as director with the successful Chennai 600 028. Based on local cricket and mixed with good measure of comedy, friendship and romance, the film went on to become a super-hit and established Venkat Prabhu as a promising new generation director.
Siva, Jai, Premgi Amaren, Arvind Akash, Nitin Sathya, Vijai Vasanth, Sampath Raj and Vijayalakshmi had essayed lead roles in Chennai 600028 which Venkat Prabhu had properly marketed with smart cricketing and emotion-filled sequences. Most of the actors have gone on to become solo heroes, as per their ‘agreement’ during the film’s making.
Venkat Prabhu went on to make hit films such as Goa and Mankatha but failed with his last two projects in Biriyani and Maasu Engira Masilamani and in order to return to his winning ways, he has now taken up the task of making the sequel to Chennai 600028.
Venkat Prabhu would also be producing the film on his banner ‘Black Ticket’; he has roped in Yuvan Shankar Raja to compose the film’s music.
