Actress Poorna has said that she had been treated shabbily by the Malayalam film industry which cheated her and dented her confidence.
Hailing from Kerala, Shamna Kasim a.k.a. Poorna starred in Malayalam and Telugu films before debuting in Tamil films as heroine opposite Bharath in Muniyandi Vilangiyal Moondramandu in 2008.
For some strange reasons, she hasn’t been able to make a name for herself in Kollywood. It is now rumoured that her parents have decided to get her married and have launched a hunt for a suitable groom.
“Though I debuted in Mollywood, I don’t get good scripts in Malayalam like I get in Tamil or Telugu films. At first, Malayalam film-makers signed me up stating my role would be a significant role but when they completed the film, my character would be very little. Like this, I had been taken for a ride many a time by the Malayalam film industry and its directors.
“I have been doing various roles and have been choosy about my films. I was upset when social networking sites spread falser rumours stating that a pregnant women died after watching a horror film of mine.
If these sites are to be banned, I’d be very happy indeed,” says Poorna and confirms with a mischievous smile that her parents were indeed on the look-out for a suitable groom for her.
What are you waiting for, guys?
