Seenu Ramasamy, who is credited for introducing Vijay Sethupathi (who had till then been seen only in sundry roles) as hero in Tamil films with the award-winning Tenmerku Paruvakaatru in December, 2010.
Sethupathi has, since then, registered a phenomenal growth as an actor and producer and has carved a niche for himself for starring in films of different genres.
Seenu went on to make Idam Porul Yaeval with Vijay Sethupathi in the lead; though the film hasn’t yet released in theatres due to some hiccups, he launched his third film with Vijay Sethupathi in the form of Dharma Durai which has the latter romancing a bevy of beauties – Srushti Dange, Aishwarya Rajesh, Sshivada and Tamannaah.
It is now reported that Seenu has presented Vijay Sethupathi with the title of ‘Makkal Selvan’. Vijay Sethupathi’s recent film Sethupathi, in which he has played a serious cop’s role, released two weeks back. His fans, in their excitement at celebrating the film’s release, had titled him as ‘Chinna Thala’, which apparently irked Simbu’s fans who consider Ajith’s fan Simbu as the original ‘holder’ of this title.
Unit sources say that the title of ‘Makkal Selvan’ would be displayed in the film’s title cards. Though Ajith doesn’t use any titles for the past many years, Vijay, Simbu, ‘Jayam’ Ravi, Vishal and Vijay Sethupathi appear to be continuing the legacy of prefixing their names with titles.
