Superstar Rajinikanth is to star in the Tamil remake of the super-duper Malayalam hit film Bhaskar The Rascal soon. Rajini, who starred in the remake of many of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s hit films during the eighties and nineties, has of late cut down in starring in remakes.
Rajini’s last remake film was the 2005 colossal hit Chandramukhi, which was the remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu. After more than two decades, Rajini is now said to have agreed in another remake. It is said that Siddique, who made last year’s hit film Bhaskar The Rascal, is to remake the Malayalam blockbuster in Tamil with Rajini in the lead.
The script of the film was the way Mammootty and Nayantara, who played the roles, brought up their children (after splitting the two children between the two).
The happy ending paved the way for the film’ success which is cited by many as one of the most successful Malayalam films in recent years. It collected more than Rs.6 crores at the box-office, a huge record for a Malayalam film.
Siddique, who has made Friends and Kaavalan in Tamil in Tamil, was earlier in talks with Ajith to star in the Tamil remake but has now confirmed that he would be making the Tamil version with Rajini in the lead. In all probability, Rajini might start work on the film from early next year after completing shoot of Shankar’s 2.0.
