Actress Lakshmi Menon has said that she had been a huge fan of ‘Jayam’ Ravi, her co-star in her upcoming film Miruthan, right from her days in school more than a decade back. Lanky Lakshmi Menon’s matured face belies her claim that she’s just 19 but she continues to remain one of the most sought-after actresses in Kollywood.
Pairing Lakshmi Menon and ‘Jayam’ Ravi opposite each other for the first time, Miruthan, said to be the first ‘zombie’ film of Kollywood, hits the screens across the State the day-after-tomorrow (12th February). Lakshmi, who debuted in Tamil films with Sasikumar’s Sundarapandian though Prabhu Solomon’s Kumki was to release first, delivered successive hits recently and has become a frontline heroine.
Ravi and Menon, who match each other in height if not in other factors, are looking forward to release of Miruthan as both want to continue their successful streak in Tamil films. Lakshmi was speaking to a regional weekly on the release of Miruthan two days before Valentine’s Day which is celebrate with lots of love and affection around the world by couples in love.
“I have been a huge fan of Ravi right from my school days when I watched his M Kumaran S/o Mahalaxmi. Of course, I was happy when I was offered a role opposite him in Miruthan in which I play a doctor.
I have also essayed some action sequences in the film with Ravi’s help. I hope the hard-work put in my the entire crew, myself and Ravi pays off when the film releases in theatres,” she said.
On another note, she said that she took up the role of Ajith’s younger sister in last year’s Vedalam at director Siva’s behest and because she loved her character in the film. “I would no more take up sister’s roles in films,” she asserted.
Crew of Miruthan hopes to get Censor Board’s ‘A’ certificate granted to the film revoked as ‘U’ certificate in the next two days.
