Producer-director Bala has termed Madhavan-Ritika Singh’s Irudhi Suttru as a ‘flawless’ film. “I have never cried while watching films but while watching Irudhi Suttru, I could hardly control myself on many occasions.
Kudos to Madhavan and Ritika Singh for their amazing portrayals and to Sudha Kongara for making a near-perfect and enjoyable film,” Bala has heaped praise on the film’s crew.
With music by Santhosh Narayanan, Irudhi Suttru (‘Final Round’) released in theatres towards end-January (29th January) and has been doing very well at all the centres it was released.
Bala, himself a reputed film-maker, has said that he learnt many things and nuances of film-making from Sudha. “I have seen many sports-based films but wasn’t impacted by any of them; however, Irudhi Suttru affected me deeply.
“I have never cried while watching any film but did so while watching the film whose screenplay, dialogues, editing, portrayals by lead artistes, music, etc. were very good.
Film-makers usually slip up at many places while making a film but Sudha has made an almost flawless film. I have no doubt in my mind that it’s an amazing film. Sudha has extracted appreciable work from Ritika Singh, who comes across as a ‘live wire’.
“It’s better than the Hollywood film Million Dollar Baby; Sudha has made her mentor Mani Ratnam feel proud about her. I have learnt a lot from her, who worked in just one film with me.
Using the term ‘woman director’ is a sin, I feel. All are film-makers and there shouldn’t be any gender discrimination. I’m now eagerly looking forward to Sudha’s next film,” concludes Bala.
